so i beat ghost trick last night around 7 or 8. i have to say, it’s a REALLY short game. or maybe i just breezed through it because the puzzles seemed really easy to me? i’d clock it at about 10 hours of gameplay, being generous. i was at the halfway point in four hours.
the puzzles that were the hardest were- the murder machine (because i am awful with split second timing)- the jailbreak (because i kept telling jowd to run when the guards were looking)- the hippie in the park (because i didn’t realize sissel could interact with the spinny globe for AGES til rainy told me)
the other puzzles were in general a cakewalk. i had to reset the pills puzzle a lot, but that was mostly because i was trying to figure out exactly what i was doing by fiddling around. i think i got it on the fourth or fifth try after the fate change? it wasn’t too harsh. i also wound up resetting the steamsubmarine puzzle a bunch because it took me forever to reason out how the valve and steam canisters interacted
the ending kinda went bananas but that doesn’t really surprise me considering it’s a japanese game. prettymuch once it started going down in the manner it was i was like ah yes i wondered when the total incoherancy would kick in teehee
i prettymuch had sissel’s ID pegged the minute there was any debate about the guy in the red suit but i figure that’s also pretty common. the cast isn’t that large and there aren’t really many window dressing living things. prettymuch every NPC serves a purpose at some point so it was just a process of elimination thing.
but holy shit those were the longest credits ever
alf came over to watch me play during the final puzzle, and of course by then i was too far into the game to really explain who was doing what or how it worked or why i was doing what i was doing. NOT A REAL GOOD TIME TO TRY TO PICK UP THE PLOT. ‘what are you doing?’ ‘SWITCHING THIS POTATO AND THIS OWL THING.’ ‘why?’ ‘I DUNNO A METORITE IS COMING OR SOMETHING’
it was a lot of fun for such a short game, though. i’m not sure if i unlocked like alternate storylines or paths now but i kinda doubt it. i’d play another one sometime if there’s a sequel (is there a sequel?)
longest credits ever, though.
also missile is the best, end statement.
