the best way to consume caffeine is ‘don’t.’ but assuming you’re going to anyway…

coffee has other chemicals in it that cause the caffeine to release in a way that ‘energizes’ more than tea, and is safer than energy drinks or pills (generally). so coffee is still the best way to go if you’re looking to keep awake/get a quick jolt without killing your heart and liver.

the taste you actually acquire in time. it tastes like shit for a while, then your brain re-wires to accept it. i always put sugar and cream/milk in mine, which makes it taste better. however there’s a possibility coffee on your campus is just shitty. coffee’s still a plant and so there are shittier crops than others. if your campus coffee still tastes like crap after a week, just brew your own. try a pre-ground flavoured blend from the grocery store. hazelnut and vanilla are both a pretty safe bet. you can get a coffee machine for like 8$ at walmart, too, if your dorm doesn’t have one. 

also be aware that the more often you drink it, the less effective it is each time. it IS a drug and you DO build a tolerance, just like any other drug. it’s also rediculously habit forming. usually right about the same time it stops tasting like shit, you start ‘needing’ coffee every day.
